Marey likes spending time with her husband, Timothy Casey, and their yellow lab at their cabin on the Greenbrier River. She is fluent in German, plays tennis, and has won several boardgame tournaments, including the 2015 U.S. National Championship of The Game of 49.

Marey Casey, Attorney

Marey Casey has more than 20 years of litigation and other legal experience. Ms. Casey joined Moore-Biser as Counsel in 2013 and has defended clients in a variety of cases, including municipal law, employment-related disputes, personal injury, lemon law, premises liability, medical malpractice defense, product liability, mass torts and others. She has focused her past legal practice on insurance defense work, representing insurance companies directly, such as insurance coverage and bad faith litigation, as well as representing insureds covered under automobile, business or homeowner policies. She enjoys legal research and writing.

During legislative sessions, Marey also works for the West Virginia Senate as counsel for the Banking and Insurance Committee and Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. Her work at the Senate includes drafting legislation, drafting amendments to legislation, and presenting bills and resolutions to Senate committees. In addition, Marey works throughout the year as counsel for two interim committees of the West Virginia Legislature: the Select Committee on Infrastructure and the Joint Legislative Oversight Commission on Department of Transportation Accountability.

Marey has served as a law clerk to the Honorable Frank E. Jolliffe and the Honorable James J. Rowe, both Judges for the 11th Judicial Circuit of West Virginia, and the Honorable Carrie L. Webster, Judge for the 13th Judicial Circuit of West Virginia. She was the Chairperson of the Insurance Law Committee of the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia in 2009 and was recognized in the past as a West Virginia Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine. Marey is a member of the Judge John A. Field, Jr., American Inn of Court.

Her educational background includes receiving the Abitur Diploma in 1992 from the Leonardo-da-Vinci Gymnasium in Berlin, Germany, majoring in English and music. She graduated summa cum laude (4.00 GPA), from West Virginia State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English (Writing) in 1996. Marey received her Juris Doctor degree from Washington & Lee University School of Law in Lexington, Virginia, in 2000. She attended the Trial Advocacy Institute at the University of Virginia School of Law in 2007.

Marey has been a member of the West Virginia State Bar since 2000 and is admitted to practice law in all state courts in West Virginia and Kentucky. She is also admitted to practice law in several federal courts, including the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of West Virginia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Kentucky.
