Michael Moore is a founding member of Moore-Biser. He has wide-ranging experience representing national and international businesses and their insurers in West Virginia for over 30 years. Mr. Moore uses his exceptional trial and litigation skills to defend businesses in a number of practice areas, including personal injury defense, transportation and trucking law, products liability, premises liability, automotive warranty claims, insurance bad faith and claims against municipalities. He also has deep expertise in construction matters, commercial lender liability and deliberate intent claims.

Michael has also been named “Best Lawyers in America” from 2007 to 2022 in recognition of his outstanding trial and litigation skills. Specifically, he was named 2019 “Attorney of the Year” in West Virginia for Insurance Law and Personal Injury Defense Litigation by Best Lawyers in America. In 2013, he was named “Lawyer of the Year” in Insurance Law by Best Lawyers in America. Michael was also named a “Top Lawyer” by Corporate Counsel in 2010.

On top of his accolades, Michael maintains membership in multiple professional organizations, including the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia and the Defense Research Institute. Michael is also a member of the DRI Trucking Committee. In the past, he served on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of the West Virginia State Bar and has mediated cases for various West Virginia attorneys. Michael is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in West Virginia.

Highly active in the community, Michael has served on the Board of Directors for the South Charleston Chamber of Commerce for many years and he was named “Volunteer of the Year” in 2011 for his unwavering commitment to businesses in the area. He is also heavily involved in his local church and serves in various capacities including leading various men’s groups and outdoor activities.

Michael received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Tulsa in 1989, and was admitted to the West Virginia State Bar in 1989. While at the University of Tulsa, he was a member of the Order of the Barristers and was the Notes and Comments Editor of the University of Tulsa Energy Law Journal. He also was an intern for the Honorable Leo Wagner, U.S. Magistrate for the Eastern District Federal Court in Oklahoma. Michael graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.
